about the Art
Centre...
Nestling between the
mountains and the sea, Ballinaboy Studio is set in the spectacular
scenery of Connemara. Residential courses in conjunction with local
B&B's, Self Catering Cottages or Family run Hotel. After 40 years in
Connemara we can insure that students do not waste time finding
materials. Our subjects include the unique Roundstone Bog, Mountain
Views, secluded beaches and famous gardens in the West of Ireland.
Ladybird Studio is set by the sea in the picturesque town of Donaghadee,
with the mountains of Mourne and Strangford Lough within easy reach.
workplan
We begin
each painting day in our purpose built studio, with a wealth of original
professional work to inspire beginners or advanced students alike. You
experienced tutors give individual help in an instructive and friendly
atmosphere
Tuition is from 10.30am to 5.00pm with a one hour break for lunch. Bring
your own thermos and packed lunch and be sure to pack warm clothes and
suitable footwear. As we cannot guarantee the weather, unlike the
results of your weeks work.
demonstration
Each day
begins with a demonstration from the tutors in oil, watercolour,
acrylics. Gouache or mixed media as required. Afterwards the tutor will
help each student to a personal interpretation. Subject matter is
constantly varied so that those joining for several weeks need not fear
unnecessary repetition.
We have a choice of mountains, boglands, coasts and harbours, all within
a short distance from the studio. Connemara has several international
renowned gardens for artists who desire to paint flowers.
